Understanding the hiring process nuances that can be unique from state-to-state, BCAT Preferred and Elite clients will be paired with law enforcement administrators that are knowledgeable on the hiring trends and requirements within a given geographical region – ensuring BCAT clients the best guidance possible to assist them in Bringing Home the Badge.

BCAT is comprised of active and retired law enforcement executives with over 80 years of experience. With our unique and accomplished backgrounds, our team of associates is well versed in every aspect of the business of law enforcement. This allows our team to deliver comprehensive services effectively and efficiently, because we know what can be trained in a recruit vs what departments expect you to bring to the table. We’ve trained some of the best officers in the country – now we’re offering that training to the law enforcement community at large.
Jeff is currently the Chief of Police in Mason City, Iowa, and an Associate Teaching Professor at Iowa State University, teaching “Police & Society” and “Contemporary Issues in Policing.” Jeff oversees 48 sworn officers and 8 civilians, as well as a budget of $5.3 million. Jeff has also operated as a narcotics investigator and lieutenant with the Ames Police Department.
Ken currently serves as the Chief of Police in Bellevue, Nebraska. Prior to his appointment to that position in 2020, he spent 26 years with the Iowa State Patrol – spending the last six years as an Area Commander (Captain). During his career with the Iowa State Patrol he held a multitude of positions including CALEA Coordinator, Statewide Tactical Response Team Coordinator, and Assistant Operations Commander.
Barry is a full time Criminal Justice Professor at the Des Moines Area Community College (IA). In 2019, he retired as the Chief Deputy from the Story County Sheriff’s Office in Iowa after serving for 27+ years as a law enforcement officer. Barry is the Past International President of the FBI National Academy Associates and draws upon his extensive, worldwide law enforcement experience to mentor the next generation of peace officers.
